Getting Out and About to Practice the Art of Driveby Shooting

I joined a great group in Flick called

I Drive By Shooting.

What were once peaceful drives in the country with me staring vaguely into
the mid-distance have become a dramatic experience reminiscent of the more
fraught moments in the film "Bonnie and Clyde" when they were on the road.

The perpetual "beep" of my trusty Digital Rebel has been heard for the past two months
as I capture everything that moves along the way.

Here is a nice shot from the end of the peninsula in Sheep's Head, West Cork.

I'm sure it's not necessary to travel the length and breath of Ireland
to make nice photos... but it seems to help.

Saturation

Super Saturated Images were the norm for Postcards
when I was a child.

As a result, I began to play around with the in-camera
saturation levels while travelling in West Cork.
However, I did not want to be too daring and exaggerate,
given the wild beaury of the place, which is colourful
enough in its own right.

This Rock Pool Photo was worked on in Digital Professional,
the Canon software. You can transform photos in so many ways
with this versatile Graphics Editor that I have to prevent myself
from getting totally carried away and making everything look
Day-Glo Garish.

Vivid Red Tulip

Rules of Thumb?

Getting exposure right is a science.
The art lies in using your choice of
ISO and shutter speed to the best advantage.

I've taken to metering off my hand, a tip learned
from reading, but reinforced by a chat with a photographic
expert in town. Flower colours seem more vivid, as a result.

And now that sharp Spring sunlight is here at last,
the Sunny 16 rule can be used to good effect.
Details are in the link in the Title Bar.
