Film

Many photos taken with film in dull weather can be very grey.

This one was worked on in Irfanview to coax some colour out of the marble fountain.

I find that overcast skies give some of the best pictures, because they're so low in contrast. Our pictures from Alaska, where it was bright and sunny, yet with the sun at an angle, are some of the worst because of the high contrast. Yet, our Europe pictures taken with the same camera were far better, because of the gray skies.

Flowrers are often best photographed in shade, so I often use an umbrella if I want colours to glow.
