Photographing Birds

Many of the wretched creatures never stay still, but patience pays off.

If you want absolute success, the frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) is the most willing of models. At most this unusual bird will bat its eyelids very, very slowly.

Birds are notiriously difficult, as they really don't tend to hold still. I think I've taking more than 300 pictures of magpies, with only a handful of those turning out, and only 1 actually capturing their irridescent coloring.

I always sit still, if you'd like to be best friends?
