The Pentax FA J75-300 Lens is
a good choice in my case.
I got it to see flowers growing
high up in trees, but found that
it is very good for close-ups of
floral species as well.
Since I am short-sighted,
it is very useful for landscape
work.

If you can, see if you can find a cheap-ish 3x filter for your lens - it'll allow you to get quite close to your subjects, and to photograph very small items, such as moss flowers, small beetles, etc.
Also, do you use a fixed lens, as well? I've just found the joy of having a "fast" lens, rather than the zoom lens, as it takes quality pictures in low light without flash. :)
This is really helpful. I'll look into it.
